How to Promote your eBay Store

Credit for this page goes entirely to Mona (Beadhappys), who is a constant source of help and support on the eBay Stores Community Board. Thank you, Mona, for taking the time to put these resources together for your fellow Store owners.

Try better cross promotions in your listings through our fellow eBay store owners’ cross-promotional tools...

Promote your store on and off eBay:
Many search engines have “sponsored results” that you can pay to be included in, some of them are quite reasonable. Look for links that say: “See your message here...” or “Advertise with us”

Submit your store data feed to Froogle for free!

  1. Go to your store front and click on “Seller, manage Store.”
  2. Under “Promotions” on the right, click on “Export listings.”
  3. When your listings are ready, they will be here: http://esssl.ebay.com/GetListings/yourstorename (no hyphens)

That's all there is to it. You can also provide the feed to other sites to be included in their results as well.

Run auctions to promote your store - be sure to have a prominent link to your store in the listings! You can make custom logos or buttons with any of these FREE logo and button makers:

Try a paid banner through eBay's Keywords by Admarketplace. Be sure to check out any promotions they are running!

Develop flyers, business cards and other professional looking business collateral to help you build your Store identity. Check out eBay's Business Collateral Center.

Please remember links to eBay Stores Malls and any Site Rings must go on your About Me page, they are NOT permitted on any eBay Stores page. Putting links on your stores pages put those pages at risk of being shut down by eBay. Please review the Links Policies.

Join FREE eBay Stores Malls:

Join an eBay specific Site/WebRing:

Join a Site/WebRing that is related to the stuff you sell, there are tons! There are several different ring systems you can check such as:

Note: For WebRing.com rings, be sure you use the HTML version of the NavBar. For eBay only rings, the Ring Manager probably has the ring configured to offer the HTML version first. For rings that are not eBay specific, the SSNB code is probably offered first. Look at the very bottom of the page for a link to the HTML version.

Join the eBay Stores Sidewalk Sale. ESSS has an associated SiteRing as well (see above).

Join Doors 2 Stores - Bringing understanding and awareness of eBay Stores.

Do you use discussion boards off eBay? Include a discreet link to your eBay store or About Me page in your signature. Be sure to follow any posting guidelines the discussion board has, or your could be banned.

Include a link to your eBay store in your e-mail signature. Some providers are a little restrictive about what links you may or may not use. If in doubt, check with your provider. AOL has some odd restrictions if you use them.

Use logo items to promote your eBay store! Wear a shirt with your eBay store name on it, carry a bag with your eBay store name on it. These can be purchased on eBay in many cases!

Get a bumper sticker made with your eBay store name on it, or if you don't want adhesives, consider a window cling that requires no adhesive. Just make sure that your state allows stuff on your car windows, most do, but again some are more restrictive.
